RAW: An Asian American Narrative

RAW was written during the rise of the AAPI/ADPI-targeted hate crimes resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Ahn, a young Korean-American female author, hopes that you will join her on her journey grappling with race, gender, sexuality, fear, and heartbreak through prose, imagery, and connection.
  • Thoroughly enjoyed reading these simple yet beautiful and thoughtful poems from this young author, Natalie Ahn. She does an excellent job expressing her deep feelings of being Asian in America. Being an Asian, also living in the US, I could relate to her in so many ways. Brilliant!

  • A powerful collection of poems about breaking from conformity and finding one’s own voice. Creative, original, and ‘raw’—I loved it. We often judge others without truly understanding their internal struggles, and this book captures that reality with striking honesty. The perspectives offered perfectly reflect the internal conflicts of a young Asian woman, resonating deeply with me as I navigated similar struggles growing up in the Midwest. It couldn’t have been more accurate. The author is a genius—thank you for this incredible work.

  • This book was beautifully written from start to finish. I was entrapped into her words and simply could not put the book down. The author included personal drawings that added a visual to the words. My favorite poem was Letters to Loved Ones. Support an amazingly talented and hard working Asian American woman and hear her stories as she battled with her self love and discovery while spreading awareness on the xenophobia surrounding the current pandemic. A strong, empowering and endearing read.
